Le Mans signs veteran forward Thierry Rupert
Thierry Rupert Le Mans added a ton of experience to its frontline with the signing of veteran forward Thierry Rupert on Monday. Rupert (202, 32) arrives from Chalon-sur-Saone and Le Mans will be his seventh club in 15 professional seasons, all in France. He has played for Poissy-Chatou, Olympique Antibes, CSP Limoges, SIG Strasbourg and EB Pau-Orthez during his career. Rupert, who is considered an excellent defensive player, averaged 7.5 points and 4.5 rebounds over 21 minutes in the French League last season. He took part in 42 Euroleague games over three seasons with Pau-Orthez between 2004 and 2007. Rupert is also former teammate of his new coach, J.D. Jackson. The two played together for parts of three seasons at Poissy-Chatou and Antibes. Among his career highlights are winning the 2000 Korac Cup, French Cup and French championship with Limoges. "I really felt good in Chalon but it was hard for me not reject an offer from Le Mans," Rupert said. "I know JD Jackson on and off the court. When he asked me to come to Le Mans, I saw a great opportunity to play in the Euroleague and at the highest level in France."
