Asvel, Traore agree to two-year extension
Asvel Basket and big man Ali Traore have agreed to a contract extension that will keep the player with the club through the end of the 2010-11 season. Traore (205, 24) rejoined Asvel, his boyhood club, last summer and played a key role in winning the French championship and a Euroleague berth. Last season he averaged 12.5 points and 5.2 rebounds in six Eurocup games and 11.7 points and 5.4 rebounds in the French League. The Ivory Coast native grew up with Asvel, making his professional debut in 2001. He even made a brief appearance in the Euroleague in 2002. Traore later moved to the United States to play at the College of Southern Idaho in 2004, but soon returned to France and signed for Quimper. He also played for Roanne and STB Le Havre before returning to Asvel.
