ASVEL BASKET builds around Curtis Borchardt
Curtis Borchardt (acb.com)Asvel Basket has signed center Curtis Borchardt to be the centerpiece of its frontline. Borchardt (210, 28) arrives at Asvel after four productive seasons in the Spanish League with CB Granada, during which he averaged a double-double. Last season he produced 12.3 points, led the Spanish League with 9.9 rebounds and placed third with 1.4 blocks per game in 26 appearances. Borchardt was a college star at Stanford University, before heading to the NBA to play for Utah. He came to Granada in December 2005 and became a fixture as the club's star big man, though he has missed some time with foot injuries. At Asvel, Borchardt figures to team with the recently re-signed Ali Traore and Eric Campbell in the frontcourt as he makes his European competition debut. "I have spent a lot of time with Curtis in recent days and he will be our main reference in the Euroleague," Asvel head coach Vincent Collet said. "He is a very aggressive rebounder and a complete player, with good hands and very mobile for his size. I am very pleased with this signing."
