Aris BSA candidate to replace Azovmash
The Euroleague has announced on Wednesday a possible change of teams in the qualifying round that will precede the upcoming 2009-10 regular season. Aris BSA of Thessaloniki, Greece is the candidate team that will be proposed in the next Euroleague Commercial Assets Assembly to replace Azomash Mairupol of Ukraine, which did not complete the registration requirements as called for in the Euroleague by-laws. Aris, one of the storied clubs of Greek basketball finished in fourth place in this season's Greek League and had reached the Top 16 in the Euroleague in consecutive seasons between 2006 and 2008.
