PARTIZAN lands center Aleks Maric
Aleks Maric (Photo: acb.com)Serbian champion Partizan Belgrade added some international flavor to its frontline by signing Australian center Aleks Maric to a multi-year deal on Tuesday. Maric (211, 25), last at Spanish side CB Granada, agreed to a two-year contract with an option for a third season. He averaged 4.6 points and 3.5 rebounds in 32 Spanish League games last season. Maric was a member of the Australian national team that won the Under-19 World Championships in Greece 2003. He played college basketball at Nebraska University in the United States, where he averaged 15.7 points and 10.2 rebounds during the 2007-08 season. Though born in Sydney, Maric's parents are of Serbian origin and he is fluent in the language, a fact that should help him adapt at Partizan.
