Maroussi Costa Coffee started to get ready for the Euroleague Qualifying Round by inking playmaker Marios Batis to a one-year deal. Batis (188, 29) arrives from Olimpia Athienitis Larissa, where he averaged 9 points, 3 assists and 1.4 steals in 25 Greek League games last season. He helped Olimpia to make it to the Greek League playoffs in the 2007-09 season. Batis has also played for Ilysiakos Athens, Near East, Irakleio Crete and Panionios in his native Greece. He made it all the way to the Saporta Cup quarterfinals with Panionios in 2002. "Maroussi has been a very high level team in Greece in recent years," Batis said. "It is a challenge for me and also a big honour. I am pleased because I will work again with coach Bartzokas, with whom I had a great coach-player relationship. We expect a challenging year in Greece and European club competitions. We have to work hard to reach our goals."
