Virtus Roma moved one step closer to completing its roster for the coming season overt he weekend with the signing of Kennedy Winston. The small forward agreed to terms on a one-year deal. Winston (198, 25) arrives from Real Madrid, which he joined midway through last season. Winston appeared in six Euroleague games with Madrid and averaged 5.3 points and 3 rebounds in a reserve role against Olympiacos in the Quarterfinal Playoffs. He began the season in Turkey with Turk Telekom Ankara, where he averaged 10.3 points on 60.5% two-point shooting and 5 rebounds in eight Eurocup games. Roma will be his third Euroleague club after spending the 2007-08 season with Panathinaikos. He has also played for Panionios in Greece, where he was a teammate of Roma power forward Andre Hutson, and for Gran Canaria in Spain. Winston helped Panathinaikos win the Greek League and the Greek Cup titles with Panathinaikos in 2008.
"The team is almost complete," head coach Nando Gentile said. "It is a team with a great desire to win. As for Winston, he is a player who has played for great teams, but has never had enough playing time to demonstrate his true value. He is a versatile player who can do well both in defense and the attack and allows us to do many things. He has class and talent."
