KHIMKI lands versatile forward Jankunas
Paulius Jankunas - ZalgirisEuroleague newcomer BC Khimki Moscow Region has made another splash by signing one of the most-experienced young forwards in the world, Paulius Jankunas, away from his life-long club, BC Zalgiris Kaunas. Jankunas (203, 25) has played six full Euroleague seasons for Zalgiris already, establishing himself as one of the competition's top double-double threats. Jankunas averaged 13.8 points and 8 rebounds last season, the latter ranking him third in the Euroleague regular season despite the presence of a teammate who ranked first. Jankunas also posted career highs in performance index rating (32), points (23), rebounds (17), assists (3) and blocks (3) during just 9 games last season. He first became a double-digit scorer in the Euroleague back in 2005-06, when he was barely out of his teens, and has flirted with that figure every season since. Jankunas won four Lithuanian League titles with Zalgiris, as well as two Baltic League crowns. With the Lithuanian national team, he took a bronze medal at the 2007 European Championships.
