CAJA LABORAL lands Huertas at point
Marcelinho Huertas - Fortitudo BolognaCaja Laboral Baskonia announced on Friday the addition of point guard Marcelinho Huertas (190, 26) for the next three seasons. DKV Joventut, the Spanish League team that had the rights over Huertas, didn't match Caja Laboral's offer for the player, therefore he can sign for the team. Last season, Huertas was playing in the Italian League with Fortitudo Bologna, where he averaged 10.4 points, 2.5 assists and 2.7 rebounds in 29 games. Huertas played in Coppell High School in the United States, and in 2001 he made his debut in the Brazilian League with Paulistano Sao Paulo. He played there two seaons, but in between he had a season also in Pinheiros. After that, he moved to Spain to join DKV Joventut, where he played three seasons until 2007, winning a FIBA Cup title, and then he was sent on loan to Iurbentia Bilbao Basket. After one year there, Huertas moved to Italy to join Fortitudo Bologna. In the Eurocup, he played 6 games averaging 8.7 points and 2.7 assists.
