Caja Laboral inks Andres Rodriguez to short-team deal

Andres Rodriguez - PGE Turow - Final Eight Turin 2008Caja Laboral signed playmaker Andres Rodriguez to a one-month deal on Friday. The move comes after learning that point guard Marcelinho Huertas would be sidelined for several weeks with a leg injury. Rodriguez (182, 28) arrives from BC Donetsk, where he averaged 10.8 points and 4 rebounds in 37 Ukrainian League games last season, leading the competition in assists (6.3 apg.) and steals (3.3 spg.). He helped Donetsk reach the Ukrainian League finals. Rodriguez has also played for Turow Zgorzelec in Poland, Union Olimpija in Slovenia and Brujos de Guayama and Criollos de Caguas in his native Puerto Rico. Rodriguez helped Turow reach the Polish League finals in 2007 and 2008 and made it to the Eurocup Final Eight two years ago. He also won the Slovenian League and Slovenian Cup titles with Olimpija in 2005 and lifted the Puerto Rican League trophy with Criollos in 2006. Rodriguez has also been a member of the Puerto Rican under-21 national team.
