Panathinaikos big man Batiste sidelined three weeks
Defending champion Panathinaikos enters the regular season a bit short-handed with three players from last season’s squad sidelined for the opening night game against Armani Jeans Milano. Veteran big man Mike Batiste hurt his calf at practice on Wednesday and is expected to miss three weeks. Batiste did not miss a game last season, averaging 12.5 points and 4.9 rebounds in helping the Greens to the title. Star guard Sarunas Jasikevicius has not fully recovered from knee surgery, which will keep him out of the opener. Saras has not missed a Euroleague game due to injury since November 2002, when he played for Barcelona. Kostas Tsartsaris remains out with a broken hand.
