Greens grabs veteran Golemac
Jurica Golemac - Panellinios BCFaced with an injury-depleted frontcourt right at the start of the Euroleague season, defending champion Panathinaikos has signed big man Jurica Golemac to a three-month contract with an option for the rest of the season. Golemac (209, 32) arrives from fellow Greek side Panellinios, for whom he averaged 8.4 points and 2.5 rebounds over 21 minutes in eight Eurocup games last season. Panathinaikos will be his fourth Euroleague club after previous stints at Union Olimpija, Cibona and Efes Pilsen. He began his career at KK Zrinjevac Zagreb in Croatia and has also played for Olimpija and KD Slovan in Slovenia, Efes Pilsen in Turkey, Cibona in Croatia, Ural Great Perm in Russia, Hapoel Jerusalem in Israel, Paris Levallois in France and Panellinios in Greece. Among his career highlights are winning national championships in Slovenia and Turkey, as well as cups in Slovenia and Israel. Golemac has also won the Adriatic League with Olimpija and the 2006 FIBA EuroCup Challenge with Ural Great. This summer Golemac represented the Slovenian national team at EuroBasket 2009 in Poland.
