by: Aca Ostojic, Belgrade
October 21, 2009
The day before the club's Euroleague opener, Partizan signed a one-year deal with big man Lawrence Roberts, who returns to Serbia after spending last season at Crvena Zvezda Belgrade. Roberts (27, 206) averaged 12 points and 8.1 rebounds in eight Eurocup games last season. He also posted 9 points and 5.9 rebounds per game in the Adriatic League. Partizan will be his second Euroleague club, though he has yet to play in a Euroleague game. Roberts signed for Olympiacos before the 2007-08 season, but never played there due to injury. Before that he spent one season in the NBA with Memphis, taking part in 54 games and averaging 5.2 points and 4.6 rebounds. Roberts had a standout college basketball career at Mississippi State University. He was named the SEC conference player of the year after averaging 16.9 points and 11 rebounds as a senior and to the an NCAA All-American first team in 2004 after posting 16.9 points and 10.1 rebounds as a junior.
