Press conference welcomes two partners
Valentino Renzi, President of Lega Basket, Dan Peterson, Sportitalia Basketball Commentator, Jordi Bertomeu, CEO Euroleague Basketball, Bruno Bogarelli, Sportitalia Editor in Chief and Andrea Bassani, Euroleague Basketball TV DirectorEuroleague Basketball and a pair of new partners celebrated the first week of the new 2009-10 season with a press conference on Thursday afternoon in Milan, Italy, the city where the competition's reigning champion, Panathinaikos, was to open its season hours later, hosted by Armani Jeans Milano. The gathering was held to toast new agreements with Sportitalia, the competition's new host broadcaster in Italy, and with Mondo, which became an official global provider for Euroleague Basketball earlier in the day. "We're happy to have these new partners," Euroleague CEO Jordi Bertomeu said. "Mondo wants to play a big role in our social responsibility program, Euroleague for Life. Sportitalia represents a true and positive alternative for us because for the first time we will reach the households of many Italians eager to watch this sport in open broadcasts."

The two new relationships assure that Euroleague Basketball keeps growing within its principal markets and around the world at the same time. Sportitalia, which hosted the press conference at its studios in Milan, has signed up to broadcast Euroleague games during the next three seasons.

Claudio Pavani, Mondo Commercial Director Sport Indoor Italia and Guido Bagatta, Sportitalia Basketball Commentator"We're proud to become a Euroleague broadcaster, especially as a new network born just six years ago," Sportitalia publisher Bruno Bogarelli said. "Sportitalia will reach all of Italy without any subscription and this means a great step ahead for all the basketball fans of our country."

At Thursday's ceremony, Euroleague Basketball agreed that Mondo would not only be named official global provider of sports equipment for the competition, but would also take a big role in the "Euroleague for Life" social responsibility program.

"Our company is a company born with sports, and we're very happy for our partnership with Euroleague," Claudio Pavani, Mondo Commercial Director Sport Indoor Italia, said. "We made the final step to decide to become a sponsor of the competition after knowing about the social program Euroleague for Life, that will help to build a sport centre in a needy neighborhood in the city hosting the Final Four . We're a company taking care of social problems."
