Week 4 MVP: Ioannis Bourousis, Olympiacos
Ioannis Bourousis - OlympiacosIn one of the most remarkably efficient Euroleague performances in memory, Ioannis Bourousis of Olympiacos Piraeus is the regular season Week 4 MVP despite playing fewer minutes than anyone who previously earned the honor. Bourousis, All-Euroleague last season, was on the floor for a total of 12 minutes and 6 seconds as Olympiacos rallied to defeat visiting Efes Pilsen 105-90 in Group B on Thursday. Though brief in time, his contribution was huge in terms of impact for the Reds, who had trailed by as much as 8 points in the second half. Bourousis scored 23 points almost without a miss, however, making 4 of 4 two-pointers, 2 of 2 triples and 9 of 10 free throws. He also grabbed a rebound, dished 2 assists, made 2 steals and blocked 2 shots, including one on the game's last play. That extra effort down the stretch game him a performance index rating of 32, a single point better than a just-as-remarkable runner-up, Taquan Dean of Unicaja. In just his third Euroleague game ever, Dean pumped in 7 three-point shots on his way to 30 points as still-undefeated Unicaja won 74-86 on the road at Entente Orleans. In the entire decade until now, only three Euroleague players made more three-pointers in one game than Dean for Unicaja on Wednesday. The third-best outing for Week 4 came from Tarence Kinsey of Fenerbahce Ulker, whose great shooting was still not enough to prevent an 83-87 loss to undefeated Montepaschi Siena. Kinsey poured in 20 points by going 4-for-5 from two-point range, 2-for-2 from beyond the arc, and a perfect 6-for-6 from the foul line on his way to an index rating of 29. In fourth place, Matt Walsh of Union Olimpija returns with an index rating of 28 based on his 21 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists and 3 steals, although his team fell 79-69 to CSKA Moscow. And rounding out the top five individual performances of the week, Mario Kasun of Efes Pilsen collected a double-double of 15 points and 12 rebounds for a 25 index rating in his team's losing effort against Bourousis and Olympiacos.

Individual Highs: Laurent Sciarra, Entente Orleanaise, 9 assists

Those 30 points by Dean of Unicaja were the top scoring total of the week and moved him into second overall for the regular season so far. The top scorer after four weeks is Walsh of Union Olimpija, who is averaging 24.5 points per game. The top rebound total of the week was shared by Kasun of Efes Pilsen and Travis Watson of Zalgiris Kaunas, with 12 each. Watson is the overall leader, too, with 10.5 per game. The week's best passer was Entente Orleanaise veteran Laurent Sciarra, who dished 9 assists in a substitute role. The assists leader so far is Terrell McIntyre of Montepaschi with 7.75 per game. Three players tied for the most steals of the week, with 4 each: Ibby Jaaber of Lottomatica Roma, Stephane Lasme of Maccabi Electra and Ramunas Siskauskas of CSKA. Jaaber is the regular season leader with 3.3 per game. Watson was also Week 4's top shot blocker, with 4, while D'or Fischer of Maccabi continues as overall leader with 2.3 per game. There were four players this week who registered double-doubles: Kasun, Linas Kleiza of Olympiacos, Aleks Maric of Partizan Belgrade, and Ludovic Vaty of Entente Orleanaise.
