CSKA sends Alexey Shved to Dynamo on loan
CSKA Moscow has sent promising young guard Alexey Shved out on loan to Dynamo Moscow for the remainder of the season, the clubs announced Thursday. Shved (195, 20) is among the top young guards in Russian basketball and will gain more court time with Dynamo than he would have with CSKA. Thus far this season, Shved has taken part in just two Euroleague games for a total of four minutes and four Russian League games for a total of 12 minutes. Overall he has seen action in 14 Euroleague games over the past four seasons and lifted the Euroleague trophy in 2008. Shved, whose contract at CSKA runs through the summer of 2013, will return to the club for next season.
"We care a lot about Alexey," explained CSKA vice president Natalia Furaeva. "We have a long-term contract and we believe he is the future of our team. In this regard, it is important for him not to stop his progress, and he needs playing time for that. In Dynamo he will get the chance to play more, to become a part of an ambitious team, ready to fight with the strongest clubs in Russia. We wish Alexey success and we are confident that he will show the beautiful game, gain some experience and come back to us matured and ready to compete for the roster spot."
"Of course, I am sad because I am leaving my team, my friends, with whom I was pleased to play and live," Shved said. "On the other hand, I'm sure I will be comfortable in Dynamo, because I know my future teammates very well. But the main thing [is that] I’ll get more playing time now. I am ready to fight for playing time in Dynamo, to play any position and do everything the coach requires."
