Regular Season Week 7 MVP: Aleks Maric, Partizan
Aleks Maric - PartizanIt was a game to remember for Partizan center Aleks Maric, who is already in the record books in just his seventh Euroleague game and keeps getting better week after week. The amazing rookie shined brighter than ever with a brilliant 34-point, 16-rebound performance as Partizan outlasted Efes Pilsen in a thrilling clash in the Serbian capital. Maric’s performance was more than enough to earn him weekly MVP honors for the second time in three games. Maric shot 13 for 16 from the field, drew 10 fouls and also had a steal, an assist and a blocked shot en route to a 49 index rating, tying him for the eight best performance of the decade along with Darjus Lavrinovic of Real Madrid, who also earned an identical index rating in Week 1 of this season. Maric now leads the league in per game index rating at 26.1 per game. Week 7's second-best showing came from a veteran. Kelly McCarty of BC Khimki Moscow Region scored 21 points, making 9 of 10 free throws, and grabbed 11 rebounds for a 31 index in his team’s overtime loss against defending champion Panathinaikos. Fran Vazquez of Regal FC Barcelona and Travis Watson of Zalgirs tied for third best this week with 30. Vazquez scored a career-high 19 points on 8-of-10 shooting and grabbed 8 rebounds and 2 steals in a 66-80 win over Cibona. Watson had 17 points and 17 rebounds in his team’s loss to Montepaschi Siena. Rounding out the top five is Caja Laboral forward Mirza Teletovic, who drilled 8 three-pointers and scored a career-high 28 points to lead his team to a road win at Maccabi Electra.

Maric was also Week 7’s top scorer with 34 points, climbing to third place on the season-long list with 18.1 points per game. Matt Walsh of Union Olimpija leads alls corers with 20.3 points per game. Watson was the week’s No. 1 rebounder with 17 boards. He grabbed 10 on the offensive end, coming within a single offensive rebound of the single-game Euroleague record, which he already shares a hold of. Watson leads the Euroleague in rebounds this season with 10.6 per game. All-Euroleague point guard Terrell McIntyre dished 9 assists in his team’s Top 16 clinching win at Zalgiris – more than anyone else in the league. McIntyre improved his average to 6.3 assists per game, second only to Olympiacos’s Theo Papaloukas with 7.2 assists per game. Lietuvos Rytas teammates Bojan Popovic and Donatas Zavackas each had 4 steals in their team’s win over Entente Orleanaise, more than any other players in the competition. Popovic is now tied for second in the league with 2.1 steals per game. Asvel Basket’s Mindaugas Lukauskis tops that category with 2.7 steals per game. No one blocked more shots this week than Terrence Morris of Barcelona and Robertas Javtokas of Khimki, who each swatted 4. Morris is tied for second this season with 1.7 blocks per game, behind only D’Or Fischer of Maccabi Electra with 1.9. The Week 7 MVP Maric was one of five players to record a double-double this week. Joining him were McCarty, Watson, Sasha Kaun of CSKA Moscow and Linas Kleiza of Olympiacos.
