CSKA brings Sims for tryout
Courtney Sims to tryout for CSKALooking ahead to the Top 16, already-qualified CSKA Moscow will try out a new center, Courtney Sims, in attempts to shore up its frontcourt. Sims (211, 26) arrives from the National Basketball Development League, where he was the MVP last season. Sims has also appeared in five NBA games with three different teams over the last three seasons, as well as making preseason appearances, the latest with Atlanta this autumn. He previously spent four seasons at University of Michigan, where he averaged 9.5 points and 5.5 rebounds overall. Sims arrives for his CSKA tryout as forward Ivan Radenovic, who was signed in the preseason, left Moscow. Another CSKA big man, Dmitry Sokolov, has seen very limited action since being injured in November. "It is not a secret that we needed help at center," CSKA vice president Natalia Furaeva said. "It is difficult to improve the roster at this stage of the season and we think that Courtney can be a fair addition. He did not play a game past two months and, despite his good physical condition, we insisted on the trial period for Sims. We expect Courtney to join the team on December 30. The decision to carry the contract into effect will be taken by us in two to four weeks."
