Fenerbahce Ulker announces agreement with Ukic
Roko Leni UkicWeeks after releasing its starting point guard, Fenerbahce Ulker has moved to add backcourt strength by signing Roko-Leni Ukic, a former double-digit scorer in the Euroleague. Although Fenerbahce is still in a tight race to reach the Top 16 from Group A, Ukic apparently will not be registered to play in Wednesday's road game at Montepaschi Siena. Ukic was in Istanbul early this week for physical tests before the announcement was made Tuesday. Ukic (196, 25) arrives from Milwaukee of the NBA, where he was averaging 3.1 points in 7.5 minutes over 13 games this season. Ukic spent three seasons in the Euroleague, from 2005 to 2008, with three different teams: Tau Ceramica, FC Barcelona and Lottomatica Roma. In his last season with Roma, Ukic posted averages of 12.7 points, 2.8 assists and 1.1 steals while shooting 82.4% on free throws. From Roma, Ukic spent one season with Toronto of the NBA before joining Milwaukee over the summer. For Fenerbahce, Ukic will fill the void left by a former Toronto teammate of his, Will Solomon, who was released after playing two games this season.
