CSKA Moscow re-signs Hines through 2017

CSKA Moscow has reached a new agreement with center Kyle Hines to keep working together until the end of the 2016-17 season, the club announced Tuesday. Hines (1.98 meters, 28 years old) is set to start his third season with CSKA. He averaged 6.8 points on 62.2% two-point shooting and 4.3 rebounds in 30 Turkish Airlines Euroleague games last season. In his two seasons with CSKA, Hines helped the team to reach consecutive Euroleague Final Fours and to win back-to-back VTB League titles. Hines is a two-time Euroleague champion, having won the title with Olympiacos Piraeus in 2012 and 2013. He also lifted the Greek League trophy with the Reds in 2012. Hines made his Euroleague debut with Brose Baskets Bamberg in the 2010-11 season, when he led the team to the German League and German Cup titles. In his 122 Euroleague career games, Hines has accumulated 1,060 points, 600 rebounds and 117 blocks. Over the last five Euroleague seasons, Hines leads the Euroleague in blocks, is third in rebounds and ninth in performance index rating (1,350). Hines also played for Prima Veroli in Italy. Off the court, Hines is the Official Global Ambassador of One Team, the corporate social responsibility programme founded by Euroleague Basketball and Turkish Airlines to use the power of basketball to integrate communities.

"First of all, I want to say 'thank you' to the entire CSKA organization for this opportunity. I am happy to have been part of CSKA's basketball family for the last two years," Hines said. "I am looking forward to getting back to work with my teammates and coaches. We will keep on fighting to bring the Euroleague trophy to Moscow."

While Hines is staying, CSKA also announced that the club and forward Sonny Weems have agreed to part ways. Weems averaged 12.7 points in 85 Euroleague games over three seasons with CSKA and reached the Final Four in each of them. In that span, he scored the third-most points in the competition, with 1,077 and was named to the 2013-14 All-Euroleague First Team.
