Montepaschi adds size in Slokar
Montepaschi has moved to strengthen its frontcourt heading into the second half of the Top 16 by inking power forward Uros Slokar for the remainder of the season. Slokar (210, 26) arrives from Union Olimpija, where he averaged 6.2 points and 3.2 rebounds in nine Euroleague games this season. He had joined the Slovenian League champions this summer after a season with Fortitudo Bologna, where he averaged 4.7 points and 1.7 rebounds in three Eurocup games last season. He has also played for Triumph Lyubertsy in Russia, the Toronto Raptors in the NBA, Benetton Treviso and Snaidero Udine in Italy, as well as for Geoplin Slovan in his native Slovenia. Slokar helped Benetton win the Italian League title in 2006. He also lifted the 2004 Italian Cup trophy with Benetton. He is also a regular member of the Slovenian national team. Slokar helped Slovenia to make it to the EuroBasket 2009 semifinals, finishing fourth - its highest ranking ever. Slokar will not be able to play against Real Madrid in Game 3 due to signings restrictions but will be available for the Italian Cup finals next week and for Top 16 Week 4 in which Siena plays its rematch with Madrid.
