Alan Anderson - Maccabi ElectraRegal FC Barcelona shut down Panathinaikos 83-71 in a much-anticipated Group E showdown. The hosts led by double figures in the first quarter already and were up by 20 in the second half en route to a win that puts Barcelona in a three-way tie for first place in Group E. Roger Grimau paced the winners with 17 points on 5-for-6 shooting in 17 minutes off the bench after not scoring a single point in any of his previous three games. Meanwhile defending champion Panathinaikos is 0-3 and facing early elimination from the competition.

Partizan tied a Euroleague record by holding the hosts to just 2 points in the second quarter and the two teams combined for the lowest first-half score ever in Euroleague history, 22-18. Things picked up in the second half, but Maroussi was able to withstand Partizan and hold on for the win. Jamon Lucas paced the winners with 15 points. Slavko Vranes led Partizan with 12 points and 11 rebounds to register his first Euroleague double-double in his 69th game in the competition. The Serbian champs were unable to overcome a 3 for 22 (13.6%) three-point shooting effort.

An unstoppable Alan Anderson – 23 points on 8-of-8 two-point shooting, 9 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 steals – led Maccabi to a 72-61 home win over Efes Pilsen and a share of the Group F lead with a 2-1 record. Anderson is also the only player ranked in the top 10 in scoring and rebounds (7.7 rpg, seventh). The game was closer than the final score would indicate, but Anderson scored twice in a 9-0 run in the closing minutes to wrap up the win.

Sasha Kaun - CSKA MoscowArguably the best performance of Terrell McIntyre’s career helped Montepaschi overcome the absence of star big man Ksistof Lavrinovic as the Italian champs beat Real Madrid 83-76. McIntyre roared for 24 points on 6-of-9 three-point shooting, 11 assists and 3 steals for a career-best 43 index ranking as he claimed MVP honors for the week. Also coming up big for the winners was veteran Denis Marconato, who got 24 minutes due to Ben Eze’s foul trouble and produced 11 points. The center, who had not played in the last two games and totaled 11 points all season prior to the game, had his first double-digit game since November 2007. Madrid’s Darjus Lavrinovic had 24 points in 24 minutes, though his showdown with twin brother Ksistof will need to wait another two weeks until the teams meet in Madrid.

CSKA Moscow pulled away in the second half to defeat Asseco Prokom 84-73, picking up the team’s 10th consecutive victory. Sasha Kaun dominated inside with 18 points, 10 rebounds and a career-high 5 blocked shots to lead six CSKA scorers in double figures. J.R. Holden added 17 points off the bench, sinking 3 triples and moving within 3 of 350 for his career. Holden trails Barcelona’s Gianluca Basile by 22 for the all-time three-pointers lead.

Unicaja registered its first win in the Top 16 by downing Zalgiris 86-68 as Juan Dixon led a balanced attack with 16 points. Georgios Printezis and Carlos Jimenez fueled a 15-1 first-quarter run that helped Unicaja take a 21-6 lead after 10 minutes to end a three-game home-court losing streak and bounce back in style from last week’s 50-70 annihilation at the hands of Prokom. Unicaja scored at least 86 points in four of the first five games of the season, but until this game, had not reached that number again.
