Turkish Airlines Euroleague runner-up Olympiacos Piraeus added depth to its perimeter, signing combo-guard Giannis Athinaiou to a three-year deal, club announced Friday. Athinaiou (1.94 meters, 27 years old) arrives from fellow Greek side AEK Athens where he averaged 6.2 points, 2.6 assists and 2.3 rebounds last year. Athinaiou has a previous brief Euroleague experience when he played 6 games for Panionios Athens in 2012-13 season, and averaged 2.0 points and 3.0 assists. His career started with Ilysiakos, and had two stints with Panionios. He also played a season for KAO Dramas, he split 2013-14 campaign between Aris Thessaloniki and EA7 Emporio Armani Milan, and last season Athinaiou started with Eskisehir in Turkey before joining AEK.
