Top 16, mid-round review: Group E
Dmitris Diamantidis - Panathinaikos, Pete Mickeal - Regal FC Barcelona
Already turned upside down after three weeks, Group E promises plenty more drama in the last half of the Top 16. Defending champ Panathinaikos (0-3) needs to win all three games left to keep its playoffs options alive. Its must-win Week 4 showdown against Barcelona (2-1), which has lost but a single Euroleague game this season, in overtime by a single point, should be a classic. Despite its perfect home record this season, Barcelona might need a road win in Athens - against either Panathinaikos or Maroussi (2-1) - to survive. Partizan (2-1), author of Barcelona's sole defeat, hosts Maroussi next in what will be a pivotal game for both teams - especially if Panathinaikos gets eliminated. Partizan has two home games pending to try to seal its third consecutive playoff appearance, while Maroussi hopes to continue its improbable run from the Qualifying Rounds.
