Dusan Ivkovic coaches 300th European game
Dusan Ivkovic - Dynamo Moscow Dynamo Moscow head coach Dusan Ivkovic is ready to break another record, as he is about to coach his 300th game in European competition as soon as tonight against Le Mans. The already legendary Ivkovic has coached some of the best European teams, such as Radnicki Belgrade, Partizan, Aris, Sibenka, Vojvodina, PAOK, Panionios, Olympiacos, CSKA Moscow and Dynamo Moscow, his current club. Ivkovic is also the only coach to win four different European competitions, as he led Partizan to win the Korac Cup in 1979, won the Euroleague with Olympiacos in 1997, the Saporta Cup with AEK in 2000 and last year's ULEB Cup with Dynamo. He added another Korac Cup title with PAOK Dusan Ivkovic with the 2000 Saporta Cup titlein 1994, which means that he led five different clubs to win European titles. He has a outstanding record of 214-85 in the 299 games he coaches in European competitions so far, and his numbers would even be more impressing if he did not miss four club seasons between 1988 and 1991 when he led the Yugoslavian national team back to its glory days. "When I look at this list and results, I have to be satisfied. I said it many times and I want to repeat it now: to say if a coach was successful it is not enough to look at his titles," Ivkovic said. "You also have to see how many players he helped or how many talents you find and give the opportunity to play basketball."
