EA7 Emporio Armani Milan reinforced its frontcourt and bolstered its defense with a familiar face, signing a one-year contract with a proven rim-protector Gani Lawal, club announced on Tuesday. Big man Lawal (2.05 metres, 26 years old) already played in Milan during 2013-14 season when he helped the team win the Italian League title, and reach the Turkish Airlines Euroleague playoffs. That was Lawal’s rookie season in the competition which athletic forward finished with an average of 6.3 points, 4 rebounds and 1 block per contest, and he was also second overall blocker of the Euroleague playoffs, rejecting 1.8 shots per contest. This time around, Lawal arrives from Panathinaikos Athens where he spent the second part of the last season, and averaged 2.0 points, 5.8 rebounds and 1.1 blocks in six Top 16 games, while in the Greek League action he posted 4.0 points, 1.6 rebounds and 1.7 blocks. First part of the last season he spent with Trabzonspor Medical Park, and earlier in his career he played for Phoenix in the NBA, Iowa of the NBDL, Stelmet Zielona Gora in Poland, Chorale Roanne in France, Virtus Rome in Italy, as well as Xinjiang Gyang Hui Flying Tigers and Guangzhou Liu Sui in China.
