Brose Baskets signs Zisis, Idbihi

Brose Baskets Bamberg added plenty of Turkish Airlines Euroleague experience to its roster by inking playmaker Nikos Zisis and big man Yassin Idbihi to respective two-year deals on Thursday. Zisis (1.95 meters, 31 years old) arrives from Fenerbahce Ulker Istanbul, to which he helped reach the Euroleague Final Four for the first time last season during which he averaged 5.4 points in 19 games. Zisis reached the 2014 Eurocup finals with Unics Kazan and posted 7.0 points, 3.6 assists and 2.8 rebounds in the 2014-15 Turkish Airlines Euroleague regular season before joining Fenerbahce for the start of the Top 16. Zisis has played in 229 games during his 13 Euroleague seasons, which ranks 9th all time.

Zisis made his Euroleague debut as a 17-year-old with AEK in 2001, and by the next season, he was a full-time starter. By his fifth season with AEK, he had posted 11.6 points on average in 20 Euroleague games. In 2005-06, Zisis moved to Italy with Benetton Treviso, and two years later joined CSKA Moscow, with whom he won the 2008 Euroleague title in a reserve role. He returned to the Final Four in 2009 with CSKA, finishing as runner-up, and then spent three seasons with Montepaschi Siena of Italy - including a third Final Four appearance in 2011 - before moving to Uxue Bilbao for the 2012-13 season, when he reached the Eurocup Final. Along the way, Zisis has collected seven national league titles in three countries, as well as a EuroBasket gold medal in 2005 and the World Championship silver in 2006 with the Greek national team. In his 229 Euroleague career games, Zisis has accumulated 1,496 points and 587 assists.

Idbihi (2.08 meters, 31 years old) arrives from FC Bayern Munich, where he averaged 2.8 points and 1.2 rebounds in five Euroleague games last season. He also took part in two Eurocup games with Bayern, averaging 3 points and 2 rebounds. Born in Tangier, Morocco, Idbihi started his professional career with Koeln 99ers and also played for New Yorker Phantoms Braunschweig and ALBA Berlin. Prior to that, Ibdihi also played for Rhoendorfer TV and the University of Buffalo (NCAA). He helped ALBA win the German Cup title in 2013 and lifted the German League trophy with Bayern in 2014. Idbihi has also been a member of the German national team. In his 52 Euroleague career games, Idbihi has accumulated 310 points and 179 rebounds.

"I am delighted to be here. For me, it is a great motivation to play in the Euroleague for another year," Zisis said. "I do not want to say much at this time - I would rather show it on the floor since September;" he added. "If you have the chance to play for the German League champion, you don't wait long," Idbihi said. "I am very grateful and honored for their confidence. I will do anything to repay your trust."
