Zalgiris Kaunas made a major move to complete its roster by re-signing guards Vytenis Lipkevicius and Kaspars Vecvagars, the club announced on Monday. Lipkevicius (1.96 meters, 26 years old) inked a two-year contract while Vecvagars (1.93 meters, 21 years old) penned a new, one-year deal, with a team option to extend it until the end of the 2016-17 season. Zalgiris also announced it picked up its option to keep forwards Edgaras Ulanovas and Siim-Sander Vene for another year. Lipkevicius averaged 2.1 points and 1.2 rebounds in 14 Turkish Airlines Euroleague games last season, his fourth with the Lithuanian powerhouse. He started his career with Zalgiris-Sabonio mokykla Kaunas and also played for Kaunas Triobet, Aisciai Kaunas, Rudupis Prienu and Baltai Kaunas before joining Zalgiris, to which he helped win four consecutive Lithuanian League titles in as many seasons with the club. Lipkevicius also won the 2007 Nike International Junior Tournament with Zalgiris and helped Lithuania get a silver medal at the 2009 U20 European Championships. Vecvagars averaged 2.5 points in 8 Euroleague games last season. He has also played for Riga/Pols, ASK/Kadeti 2, BA Riga and BA Turiba of Latvia and Zalgiris-Sabonio mokykla Kaunas, Baltai and Panevezys Lietkabelis of Lithuania. Vecvagars has also been a member of the Latvian national team. He helped its U18 team get a bronze medal at the 2010 U18 European Championships and took his U20 national team to the European Championships final in 2013. Vecvagars helped Zalgiris win consecutive Lithuanian League titles in the last couple of seasons.
