FCB Lassa inks top prospect Vezenkov through 2019
FC Barcelona Lassa signed one of the top young forwards in basketball, Aleksandar Vezenkov, to a four-year deal on Friday. Vezenkov (2.06 meters, 19 years old) arrives from Aris Thessaloniki, where he had a breakout season. He led the Greek League in scoring (17 ppg.) and ranked fifth in rebounds (7.3 rpg.), while helping his team reach the semifinals. He started his career with Apoel Nicosia before joining Aris at age 14 and making his Greek League debut in the 2011-12 season. Vezenkov has dominated all of the youth competitions he has taken part in with the Bulgarian national team; he was the top scorer at the 2011 U16 European Championships (27.1 ppg.), the 2013 U18 European Championships (22.4 ppg.) and the 2014 U20 European Championships (19.3 ppg.). He is also a member of the Bulgarian senior national team and already averaged 17.3 points in the EuroBasket 2015 qualifying round.
