Unicaja Malaga strengthened its frontline by signing ace rebounder Jack Cooley for the remainder of the season. The contract went into effect after he passed his physical over the weekend. He fills the void created by the release of veteran big man German Gabriel. Cooley (2.06 meters, 24 years old) arrives from Idaho of the NBA D-League, where he averaged 14.5 points and 11.8 rebounds in six games this season. He returns to Europe after starting his professional career in Turkey with Trabzonspor Medical Park during the 2013-14 season. He averaged 12.5 points and 6.8 rebounds that season. Last season Cooley split time between Utah of the NBA and Idaho of the D-League. Cooley played college basketball at the University of Notre Dame, where he was a backup to Darussafaka Dogus Istanbul power forward Luke Harangody during his first season. Cooley collected All-Big East conference First Team honors following his senior season.
