Panathinaikos, Coach Djordjevic part ways
In the aftermath of its playoffs loss Tuesday that eliminated Panathinaikos Athens from the competition, the club announced that it had parted ways with head coach Aleksandar "Sasha" Djordjevic. The Greens hired Djordjevic over the summer and he guided them to a 15-12 Euroleague record, including a 9-5 mark in the Top 16 as Panathinaikos finished third in its group and advanced to the playoffs, where it was swept in three games by Laboral Kutxa Vitoria Gasteiz. Under Djordjevic, Panathinaikos also won the Greek cup and finished the Greek League regular season in second place behind archrival Olympiacos Piraeus on a tiebreaker after compiling a 25-1 record.
