Laboral Kutxa, coach Perasovic part ways
In an official press conference on Monday, Laboral Kutxa Vitoria Gasteiz announced that head coach Velimir Perasovic had reached an agreement to terminate his contract and leave the club. Perasovic, age 51, led Laboral to one of the its most successful seasons ever. Laboral reached the Turkish Airlines Euroleague Final Four for the first time since 2008 , as well as the semifinals of both the Spanish League and the Spanish Copa del Rey. Under Perasovic, Laboral played fast-paced, attractive basketball that excited the fan base in Vitoria-Gasteiz. Perasovic had already coached Laboral for almost two seasons, helping it reach the Euroleague Final Four in 2007. He won the Copa del Rey title and took the club all the way to the Spanish League finals in 2006. A three-time Euroleague champion with Split as a player, Perasovic also led Laboral - then called Taugres - to the Saporta Cup trophy in 1996. He has also coached Caja San Fernando, Valencia Basket and Estudiantes in Spain, Efes Pilsen Istanbul in Turkey and Cibona Zagreb in Croatia.
