Euroleague, MONDO, French Federation to help hospital
Euroleague Basketball has partnered with official sponsor MONDO and the French Basketball Federation during this week's Final Four to refurbish the basketball court at world-renowned Pitie-Salpetriere Hospital in the French capital. The dedication ceremony for the new court will take place at the hospital on Thursday, May 6 at 10 a.m. with the assistance of Euroleague superstars in Paris for the Final Four. The court refurbishment is the newest in an ongoing series of initiatives taken by Euroleague for Life, the competition's social responsibility program, to give back to communities in Final Four cities and beyond.
The Pitie-Salpetriere Hospital has a psychiatry service that treats children from ages 6 to 18 years, many of whom use the basketball court for therapeutic purposes as well as for the simple joy of playing. After the Euroleague's visit, those same children will have a beautifully renovated court equipped with new MONDO baskets to enjoy. Moreover, players from all four Euroleague Final Four teams - CSKA Moscow, Olympiacos Piraeus, Partizan Belgrade and Regal FC Barcelona - will assist in the dedication of the new baskets and will spend time playing with the children, signing autographs and posing for pictures.
The 2010 Final Four will take place at the Palais Omnisport de Paris-Bercy in the French capital from May 7 to 9, at the end of which a new Euroleague champion will be crowned.
