Week 13 MVP: Terrell Lyday, Benetton Treviso
Terrell Lyday - Benetton Treviso In an outstanding performance that helped send his team to the Top 16 and carry on fighting for Euroleague glory, Terrell Lyday of Benetton Treviso became the Week 13 MVP with a 40 index rating. Lyday, who had gone scoreless two weeks ago against CSKA, exploded with a career-high 31 points to carry Benetton to a blowout 87-66 victory in its winner-take-all Group C showdown with visiting Pau-Orthez. Lyday shot tremendously, downing 6 of 7 two-point shots, 4 of 7 triples and 7 of 7 free throws. He added 2 rebounds, 6 assists, 4 steals and 6 fouls drawn for the week's highest index rating. Eldo Napoli teammates Tyrone Ellis and Michel Morandais were second and third, respectively, among the top-rated performances of Week 13. Both were key to a thrilling 88-93 overtime road win that eliminated Fenerbahce Ulker and kept Napoli's own Top 16 dream alive. Ellis had 29 points on 6-for-7 three-point shooting plus 6 rebounds and 5 assists for a index rating of 34. Morandais posted a huge double-double of 17 points and 16 rebounds for a 32 index. Antonis Fotsis of Dynamo Moscow (index 30) and Kosta Perovic of Partizan (29) led their respective teams to important wins to complete the top individual performances of the week.

Lyday not only earned MVP honors, but also became the top scorer of the week by netting 31 points in Benetton's big win over Pau-Orthez. Despite his incredible scoring night, Lyday ranks just 79th on the scorers list (9.8 ppg.), way behind the overall leader, Juan Carlos Navarro of Winterthur FC Barcelona (17.8 ppg.). Morandais led all rebounders by grabbing 16 in his team's road win against Fenerbahce Ulker. His 15 defensive rebounds were just 2 shy of the all-time Euroleague record shared by Mirsad Turkcan and Joseph Blair. Morandais ranks 26th in total rebounds (5.5 rpg.), as James Thomas of Climamio Bologna still leads the category (9.8 rpg.) despite an injury that ended his regular season. Theodoros Papaloukas of CSKA Moscow dished 9 assists, more than anyone this week, in his team's overtime road win against Winterthur FC Barcelona. He is second among the overall assist leaders (5.2 apg.) behind last season's assists champion, Pablo Prigioni of Tau Ceramica (5.3 apg.). Rudy Fernandez of DKV Joventut collected 7 steals to lead the weekly standings. He climbed to the 14th place on the overall the steals list (1.92 spg.), which is led by his teammate, Ricky Rubio (3.8 spg.). Thomas Van den Spiegel of CSKA had 4 blocks against Barcelona. Marcus Haislip of Efes Pilsen keeps leading all shot blockers with 2.08 rejections per game. Six players - Morandais, Fotsis, Tanoka Beard and Paulius Jankunas of Zalgiris Kaunas, Kaspars Kambala of Fenerbahce Ulker and Nikola Vujcic of Maccabi - posted respective double-doubles this week.
