NBA Europe Live presents Regal FCB vs. Lakers
NBA Eurole Live presented in Barcelona

The home court of the Euroleague champions was the backdrop Tuesday for the launch of one of next autumn's most-anticipated exhibition events, Regal FC Barcelona vs. the Los Angeles Lakers. The game will be part of NBA Europe Live 2010 presented by EA Sports, which marks a sixth consecutive pre-season of friendly games between the best pro basketball competitions in Europe and the United States. The game will be played on October 7, 2010 at Palau Sant Jordi in Barcelona. The last NBA Europe Live game involving a Euroleague team at the same arena saw Regal FC Barcelona defeat the Philadelphia 76ers by 104-99 before 15,000 fans on October 5, 2006. Among those gathered for the game's presentation at Palau Blaugrana in Barcelona were two of the tallest legends from the respective teams, all-time NBA scoring leader Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and former Euroleague champion Roberto DueƱas.

Jordi Bertomeu, CEO, Euroleague Basketball

"On October 7, we are going to be able to see an extraordinary event, however I want to use this opportunity to say that it is an event that is the culmination of many years of work. In June 2005 in Detroit, the Euroleague and the NBA signed an agreement that established objectives to bring greater collaboration between these two top basketball competitions. It is with great pride that we are able to sit here today, because a lot of teams, NBA as well as Euroleague, have been able to meet across the continents. The pride is because it's clear that the original objectives are being met.

"In the meantime, and for this game, I would like to thank all those who have been able to bring this event together, especially the current Euroleague champion, Regal FC Barcelona. We will see what the Lakers will do to end their season, however it will be an interesting face off between two champions. I would also like to thank the Barcelona City Hall for all their help in the process and for allowing us to use the wonderful Palau Sant Jordi."

Sophie Goldschmidt, managing director, NBA Europe

"We are thrilled to come back to Barcelona. It is the fifth time that we come to Spain, and this time round it will be especially poignant due to the presence of Pau Gasol. I and the NBA would like to thank our partners and sponsors. Firstly, we'd like to thank Euroleague for their partnership throughout the whole period that NBAEL has taken place, and also thank EA Sports, Adidas and, of course, FC Barcelona."

Joan Laporta, president, Regal FC Barcelona:

"I would like to open by congratulating Jordi Bertomeu for a great job that he as been able to do. You are right about the agreement in Detroit and all the work that has been done over the years. Let's hope that the Lakers do their best job so that we can have two standing champions face off in Palau Sant Jordi next October. I would like that thank all of those who are working to make FC Barcelona a top-tier, internationally recognized team. However I also want to mention that part of our agreement will be to host a Basketball without Boarders here in Barcelona as part of the FC Barcelona Foundation and our CSR program, where coachers and players will be here to host a series of clinics."
