Top 16 Week 6 MVP, 2004-05: Jaka Lakovic, Panathinaikos
Of the last five teams to make the Euroleague Quarterfinal Playoffs, all but one needed merely to win their final Top 16 games in order to survive. The fifth, Panathinaikos, had to win by at least 5 points to reach the quarterfinals, and by 18 or more to become Group F champ and enjoy homecourt advantage in the next round. That was a tall order to fill, especially playing against the Euroleague runner-up from a year ago, but with point guard Jaka Lakovic putting in an MVP of the Week performance, Panathinaikos accomplished all of it. In a 78-55 victory over Climamio, Lakovic posted 26 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists, 4 steals and 11 fouls drawn to amass the week's highest index rating, 30. It was the first weekly award Lakovic earned this season, although he had been named MVP of the Month for February.
