Fenerbahce Ulker adds Engin Atsur for two years
Engin Atsur - Besiktas ColaTurkaFenerbahce Ulker revamped its backcourt on Thursday by signing guard Engin Atsur on a two-year deal. The announcement came hours after the club extended the contract of playmaker Roko Ukic. Atsur (193, 23) arrives from fellow Turkish side Besiktas ColaTurka, where he had a breakout season last year. Atsur averaged 15.3 points, 2.8 assists and 1.8 steals in the Eurocup and 13.3 points and 4.4 assists in the Turkish League. Atsur took an unusual route to European stardom by playing four seasons of college basketball at North Carolina St. University. He returned to Europe in 2007 for Benetton Treviso and spent the following season with Efes Pilsen before signing for Besiktas last season. Atsur is also a member of the Turkish national team and expected to take part at this summer’s World Championships at home in Turkey. He played for Turkey last summer at the 2006 World Championships in Japan and at EuroBasket in both 2007 and 2009.
