Legends hold court at "Three of a Kind" Euroleague Basketball Clinic
The official presentation of the closing session of the Euroleague Basketball Clinic "Three of a Kind" will be held Wednesday, June 23, at 17:00 CET in the Utrillo Room of the Hotel Catalonia Plaza in Barcelona. The trio of coaching legends who have given the clinic's classes on-line over the last five months - Aito Garcia Reneses of Unicaja, Ettore Messina of Real Madrid, and Zeljko Obradovic of Panathinaikos Athens - will be joined at the press conference by Euroleague Basketball CEO Jordi Bertomeu.
Also attending will be newly-crowned Euroleague champion Xavi Pascual of Regal FC Barcelona, whose participation in next season's clinic - along with the three aforementioned legends - will be made official at the press conference. Pascual will teach on-line classes starting in winter 2011 and will be part of the final on-court session in June of that year with Garcia Reneses, Messina and Obradovic.
The third edition of the clinic started with a five-month long on-line course consisting of 72 lessons - 24 by each of the coaches - that were accessed by 115 students from all five continents and 31 different countries. The clinic will finish with four days of on-court instruction, Wednesday through Saturday, by Garcia Reneses, Messina and Obradovic, who will be accompanied by his Panathinaikos assistant coach Dimitris Itoudis. The on-court clinic will be held on the courts at Parc Esportiu Baix Llobregat in the Barcelona suburb of Cornella de Llobregat. The coaches will speak in their on-court lectures of 12 different technical concepts, four for each of the three coaches. At the same time, Pascual will join a discussion with the coaching students on Thursday with the coaching students at Hotel Catalonia Plaza.
The clinic forms part of the Euroleague Basketball Institute, the educational arm of Euroleague Basketball, which also organizes a Master in Communication and Sports Marketing, celebrating its fourth edition this season, together with University Ca'Foscari of Venice, Italy. Euroleague Basketball Institute is due to expand in the near future with the addition of a course specializing in basketball scouting techniques.
