Real Madrid, Sergio Llull together until 2014
Sergio Llull celebrates - Real MadridOne of the best young combo guards in the world is set to keep playing for his current club, as Real Madrid announced that Sergio Llull has extended his contract until the end of the 2013-14 season. Llull (190, 22) was under contract for two more years but Madrid opted to extend it even further. Llull averaged 9.5 points on 66% two-pointers and 2 assists in 18 Euroleague games this season, helping the team to reach the Quarterfinal Playoffs and the Spanish King's Cup title game. Llull just completed his fourth season at Madrid and second as a critical contributor. Llull played youth basketball at La Salle Mao and CB i Unio Manresana and began his pro career at Basquet Manresa. He also played for Finques Olesa before joining Madrid in 2006. Llull claimed a gold medal from the 2004 European Under-18 Championships and a silver medal from the 2007 European U-20 Championships. His biggest national team accomplishment came in 2009, when he helped Spain to win EuroBasket 2009. Llull, who is currently injured, is expected to be with the Spanish national team at the 2010 FIBA World Championships.
