Regal FC Barcelona extends Terence Morris
Euroleague champion Regal FC Barcelona has reached a new agreement with former All-Euroleague power forward Terence Morris to extend his contract until the end of the 2011-12 season, the club announced Wednesday. Morris (207, 31) averaged 7.1 points on a league-best 82.5% two-pointers and 3.8 rebounds in 21 Euroleague games last season. He helped Barcelona to win the Spanish SuperCup, the Spanish King's Cup and above all, the club's second Euroleague title. Morris is the first player in Euroleague history to reach three consecutive finals with as many different teams. He made it to the Euroleague final with Maccabi in 2008 and then again with CSKA in 2009 before joining Barcelona. Morris was named to the 2007-08 All-Euroleague First Team, received Euroleague Basketball MVP honors for the month of January 2008 and finished as runner-up in the voting for the Best Defender Trophy that season. Morris has also played in Israel for Hapoel Jerusalem, in Greece for Apollon Patras and in the NBA for Houston and Orlando. Among his career titles are the 2009 Russian League crown and the 2007 Israeli Cup. Morris is the only player who among the Euroleague's top 10 this decade in career two-point (62.6 %) and three-point (46.8 %) shooting percentages. He also ranks 10th in blocks at 1.3 per game. Under the new deal, Barcelona retains an option to end the contract in summer 2011.
