Panathinaikos tabs Romain Sato
One of the best small forwards in European basketball switched Euroleague teams on Tuesday, when Panathinaikos announced that Romain Sato inked a three-year deal with the Greek powerhouse. Sato (194, 29) arrives from Montepaschi Siena, where he averaged 13.6 points on 85.5% free throws, 5.3 rebounds and 1.5 steals in 16 Euroleague games last season. In his four years with Montepaschi Sato helped his former club to win as many Italian League titles from 2007 to 2010. Sato also won back-to-back Italian Cup titles in 2009 and 2010, made it to the Euroleague Final Four in 2008 and was chosen as the Italian League MVP last season. Sato has also played for Barcelona in Spain, Jesi in Italy and San Antonio in the NBA since finishing his four-year career at Xavier University (NCAA). He is also a regular member of the Central African national team. Sato has earned Euroleague weely MVP honors throughout his career.
