CSKA Moscow lands Jamont Gordon
One of the Euroleague's top newcomers last season switched teams on Monday when CSKA Moscow announced the arrival of Jamont Gordon, who inked a three-year deal with the Russian powerhouse. Gordon (194, 23) arrives from Cibona Zagreb, where he averaged 13.9 points, 4.9 rebounds and 3.8 assists in 15 Euroleague games last season. He boosted his numbers up to 20 points, 6.7 rebounds and 4.5 assists in the Top 16. He led the Top 16 in index ranking (23.8 per game) and tied as that phase's best scorer with 20 points per game, the same as his former teammate Marko Tomas. Gordon later helped Cibona win the Croatian League title and reach the Adriatic League final. He has also played for Fortitudo Bologna in his short, promising professional career. Gordon arrived in Italy after an impressive college basketball career at Mississippi State University, where he posted 17.2 points, 6.6 rebounds and 4.9 assists in 34 games as a junior. "I have been playing in Europe for two years, which is enough to understand that it is an honor to play for CSKA, one of the most successful clubs on this continent," Gordon said. "I had a chance to play against coach Dusko Vujosevic when I was in Cibona. I know that he is a very good coach."
