MONTEPASCHI lands Bo McCalebb
Italian League champion Montepaschi Siena found a new point guard in Bo McCalebb, who inked a three-year deal with his new team on Sunday. McCalebb (183, 25) arrives from Partizan, which he led to its biggest season in recent history, averaging 13.4 points, 3.4 assists and 2 steals in 18 Euroleague games as the team reached Final Four for the first time since 1998. They also won the Adriatic League, Serbian League and Serbian Cup titles together. McCalebb, who arrived to Belgrade barely one week before the start of the competition, was chosen to the All-Euroleague second team. McCalebb made his European basketball debut in Turkey playing for Mersin Burykshehir. There he averaged 17.4 points and 4.6 assists while leading Mersin to its first-ever Turkish League playoff appearance. Previously, McCalebb played four seasons at the University of New Orleans, his hometown, becoming that school's and its conference's all-time leading scorer. McCalebb replaces two-time All-Euroleague point guard Terrell McIntyre, who joined Spanish powerhouse Unicaja earlier on this summer.
