Caja Laboral completes roster with Mensah-Bonsu
Caja Laboral announced late Sunday the addition to the roster of center Pops Mensah-Bonsu (206, 26) for one year and an option for another, thus completing the team for the upcoming season. Pops arrives from CSKA Moscow where last season he averaged 4.1 points and 1.4 rebounds in 9 Euroleague games, helping the team reach its eighth consecutive Final Four. Before landing in Moscow, Pops had been with the Toronto Raptors of the NBA, where he averaged 3.3 points and 3.1 rebounds in 53 games. Mensah-Bonsu previously played in the Euroleague for DKV Joventut at the beginning of the 2008-09 season. He was, in fact, the top-rated player according to the Euroleague's performance rating before a shoulder injury ended his time with the Spanish club after just two games. The previous season, 2007-08, Mensah-Bonsu appeared in 11 ULEB Cup games for Benetton Treviso, averaging 10 points and 8.4 rebounds. Mensah-Bonsu started his native England before playing at George Washington University in the United States. He has also played short-term for NBA teams Dallas, San Antonio and Houston before he arrived in Toronto. Mensah-Bonsu is also a member of the Great Britain national team and was its best scorer during Eurobasket 2009 with 13.3 points and 4 rebounds on average.
