Maroussi nabs Diarra at forward
Mamoutou Diarra (Photo: FIBA Europe)Maroussi BC has announced small forward Mamoutou Diarra as its first senior signing for the new season. Diarra (200, 30) arrives from Chorale Roanne in his native France, where he averaged 7.2 points and 3.2 boards in the French League last season. Diarra previously played in Greece for two seasons with PAOK Thessaloniki. He averaged 11.8 points and 5.3 boards during the 2007-08 season and 9.8 points and 3.9 boards during the 2008-09 season. Diarra grew up with the INSEP and later played for AS Bondy 93, Racing Paris and Chalon/Saone in France. He began last season with Italian club Air Avellino before joining Roanne. Diarra was a member of the French national team that won the bronze medal at the 2005 European Championships. He also played at the 2006 FIBA World Championships.
