Zalgiris locks up promising guard Vecvagars

The deal is for three seasons, but Zalgiris has options that could keep him in green through 2015. Vecvagars (190, 17) comes off a breakout summer in which he helped the Latvian national team to a bronze medal at the European Under-18 Championships in Lithuania. Vecvagars averaged 6.8 points, 4.4 rebounds and 4 assists per game in Lithuania. The previous summer, Vecvagars was among the top 10 in scoring (16.3 ppg.), rebounds (7.3 rpg.) and assists (3.9 apg.) at the U-16 European Championships.
