CSKA Moscow to face Miami Heat on October 12
Euroleague Basketball is proud to announce that CSKA Moscow, as part of their preseason tour in the United States in October, will play a third friendly game, this time against the Miami Heat on October 12. This season marks the first time the Heat will host an international exhibition game at American Airlines Arena. CSKA is the winner of two of the last five Euroleague championships (2006, 2008) and has also appeared in the last eight Euroleague Final Fours, making four Finals appearances during that span (2006-09). The club is headlined by former Euroleague MVP Ramunas Siskauskas and features a number of players familiar to fans in America, including Trajan Langdon, J.R. Holden, Jamont Gordon, Viktor Khryapa and Sasha Kaun, who was a teammate of Heat guard Mario Chalmers on the 2008 National Champion Kansas Jayhawks.
"It is another step in the right direction for Euroleague Basketball. With our representatives Caja Laboral and CSKA Moscow playing in the United States, we rest assured that the Euroleague print will grow bigger on the other side of the Atlantic Ocean. This third game that CSKA adds to their tour against the Miami Heat is another sign of the good collaboration existing between the NBA and Euroleague Basketball." Jordi Bertomeu, Euroleague Basketball CEO said.
"The third game added to our preseason tour to the USA is not just a simple addition to the trip, but a real drawing card," CSKA president Andrey Vatutin said. "We have a great chance to test ourselves against the brightest stars - LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh. Besides the preparation for the season, we'll become a part of the most attractive project in the world of basketball."
