Partizan adds size with Jawai

Serbian champion Partizan mt:s agreed terms with Australian center Nathan Jawai, who replaces Aleks Maric after the latter's departure to Panathinaikos. Jawai (208, 23), nicknamed Aussie Shack due to his 125 kilos, arrives from Minnesota in the NBA, where he averaged 3.2 points and 2.7 rebounds in 39 games last season. He also spent time with Sioux Falls in the NBDL. Jawai split the previous season between Toronto in the NBA and Idaho in the NBDL, averaging 11.1 points, 6.4 rebounds and 1.1 blocks for the latter. Jawai made his debut in 2005 with the Queensland U20 team and also played that season with the Southern Dictrict Spartans and the Australian Institute of Sport. He spent the 2007-08 season with the Cairns Taipans and was named Rookie of the Year in the Aussie League after posting 17.7 points and 9.6 rebounds per game.
