Spirou Basket announces Joseph Gomis
Joseph Gomis - UnicajaBelgian champs Spirou Basket Charleroi announced that, pending medical exams, guard Joseph Gomis (180, 32) will sign a one-year deal with the team. Gomis arrives from Unicaja of Spain where last season he missed a big part of the season due to a serious injury in his Achilles' Tendon and was replaced in the team by Pooh Jeter. The previous season, 2008-09, he started with Valladolid of the Spanish League, but he soon moved to Unicaja to replace injured Berni Rodriguez. He played 14 Euroleague games averaging 6.8 points and 1.5 rebounds per game. Gomis started his career in 1994 with Evreux of France, where he stayed until 2000. That year, he joined SLUC Nancy for the start of the season and spent two years there, winning the Korac Cup in 2002. He first played in Spain with Leche Rio Breogan as he signed in the summer of that same 2002. After three years in Lugo, he switched cities and moved to Valladolid, where he was in the team for three full campaigns, until the start of the 2008-09 season, when he moved to Malaga to join Unicaja. He has also been a member of the French national team from 2004 to 2009.
