Fresh off its first Final Four appearance of the decade, Laboral Kutxa Vitoria Gasteiz announced Friday that it has hired Sito Alonso to take over as head coach for the next two seasons. Alonso, 40, spent the last two seasons at the helm for Bilbao Basket, posting an 11-5 record in the EuroCup last season, and three previous three at Gipuzkoa Basket, both Spanish League teams in the same region as Laboral. Alonso has one season of previous previous experience in the EuroLeague, having coached DKV Joventut Badalona to a 4-6 record in the 2008-09 season. He also led Joventut to an 8-4 record in the next season's EuroCup. As an assistant coach, Alonso was EuroCup champion with Joventut in 2008. Alonso replaces Velimir Perasovic on the Laboral bench.
